About Me
Moale Proud (nee James) is a freelance, Creative Producer and Storyteller.
Her connection to this land in Magandjin/Meeanjin Brisbane, Queensland, Australia is as a second-generation migrant with ancestry to Papua New Guinea (on her Mother's side), Scotland and England (on her Father's side).
Moale has been raised by Educators and Artists (musicians, dancers, weavers, performers and storytellers) and it was this community of people that fostered her passion for community-led storytelling and celebration.
Moale was born in Darwin, Northern Territory on Larrakia Country and has spent most of her life taking part in the many productions of Drum Drum, Sunameke, Weaving Cultural Stories and Gaba Musik.
Moale has worked for multiple grassroots, community-arts projects but more recently she has been working in private institutions and also government-arts organisations. Moale's first passion is through storytelling and both empowering and captivating her community in the stories she shares. This desire to share stories has also brought Moale into the world of arts production - creating opportunities for others to tell their own stories with their own voices.
Currently she is on short-term contracts as a Producer for The Nature Conservancy learning exchange, Natures Leading Women and also as a Producer for ABC Pacific Radio for the radio/podcast program, Stories From The Pacific.
If you have a project that may be well suited to her skillset please feel free to contact her!
